Frida Kahlo never painted with the public in mind, nor do I paint my self-portraits with anyone else in mind. For me it is a private matter, one that confirms and validates who I am.

I am compelled to paint myself in a world bent on denying my existence. My self-portraits are my psychic lifeboat. Each one expresses something integral to my beliefs, feelings and represents my inner most self. They speak of my evolution and growth on a spiritual level. These works are me at my most irreverent.
